A website that is extremely helpful (and subscription-free) for beginners is http://guitarboost.com/ . There, you can find articles on many concepts and basics and find many online resources such as a metronome, tuner, and scale look-up.

Storyville is a little known band that had a short local run in Austin, TX back in the mid 90's. An all star line-up with an amazing lead singer but alas, they never blew up.
