Brian May publishes Astrophysics Thesis

As reported earlier, Queen guitarist Brian May has always had an intellectual side to say the least. After receiving a doctorate in astrophysics last year, he has now published his thesis on the mysterious phenomenon of Zodiacal light.

According to Wikipedia, the zodiacal light is produced by sunlight reflecting off dust particles in the solar system known as cosmic dust. It can be seen in the western sky after sunset and in the eastern sky several hours before sunrise.

May's thesis has been published as a book and is entitled, "A Survey of Radial Velocities in the Zodiacal Dust Cloud" (Springer and Canopus Publishing Ltd., 2008).

May said, "I have thoroughly enjoyed my years playing guitar and recording music with Queen, but it's extremely gratifying to see the publication of my thesis. I've been fascinated with astronomy for years, and I was happy to finally complete my Ph.D. last year and record my studies of the Zodiacal Light in this book."
